Persian (/ˈpɜːrʒən/ or /ˈpɜːrʃən/), also known as Farsi (فارسی fārsi [fɒːɾˈsiː] ) language is the main contemporary descendant of Old Persian. It belongs to Western Iranian languages of the Indo-European language family. It is spoken as official languages in different countries with different names such as Farsi or Persian in Iran, Darin in Afghanistan and Tajiki in Tajikistan. Globally, more than 110 million people speakthe Persian language.Most of these speakers are based in Persian societies as per history.
The modern Persian got developed mainly in three stages called as early, classical, and contemporary. The Iranian version of Persian has twenty-three consonants and six vowels. Persian morphology has been dominated by suffixes and it has a very small number of prefixes. Grammar of Persian does not discriminate gender. Declarative sentences are normally structured as "(S) (PP) (O) V". It has been seen that the Persian language makes wide use of word building. It also combines adjectives, nouns, stems and affixes.
A huge amount of Arabic lexical items were Persianized in New Persian. It often happens that meaning of a sentence took a completely different meaning in New Persian as compared to Arabic Origin.
Iranian Persian and Dari version of Persian Language were written using an altered variant of Arabic. Tajiki is mostly influenced by Turkic languages of Central Asia or Russian. The modern Persian script uses long vowels in text and most of the historic short vowels are generally not written.
